W orshipping with the group of Christians who meet at the Chaffee Road church of Christ would include:

• Prayers offered to God through Jesus, consisting of praise, thanksgiving, confession, and requests (Ephesians 5:20 and 6:18; Romans 12:12; 2 Corinthians 1:11).We go before the throne of God, in Jesus’ name, and bring intercessions to Him. He is our only High Priest and mediator, the Great Physician who knows our every need.
• Congregational singing which magnifies our faith in God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 14:15; Hebrews 15:15; Philippians 4:6).We sing as a group of believers. We sing praises to God. The whole congregation sings and all are encouraged to participate. We sing a cappella (voice and hearts).  It does not matter if you have a good voice or can read music. Worship in singing has always been about the heart of the one worshipping and the truth with which it is done. We sing because He commanded we should!
• Public reading and preaching from God’s Word, the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Timothy 4:2; Romans 10:14-15; 1 Corinthians 1:23) is another component of New Testament worship. We believe the Bible is the word of God and we seek His guidance each and every day. In our worship time, we read so we may all be edified and encouraged by the words of God. Each week a Biblically based lesson from God’s Word is preached.  Part of the scriptural reason Christians come together is to be encouraged, challenged, exhorted, and admonished toward a deeper faith, a stronger walk, and a more meaningful relationship with Jesus. You will also find an opportunity to respond to God’s message during the invitation song at the end of the lesson. Responses may include a public confession Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Matthew 10:32-33) because of your belief and faith (John 3:16; Romans 10:17), expressing a repentance of your sins determining a change in one’s lifestyle to reflect commitment to Christ (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30), a desire to become a child of God through baptism for the remission of your sins and to be added to His church (Acts 2:38; 47; Romans 6:3-7; Acts 8:34-39; Mark 16:16) or a request for prayer (James 5:16).
• Sharing with other Christians in the remembrance of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:24-30; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). As He commanded, we remember Jesus’ death each and every first day of the week. We do this because Jesus wanted us to remember. Throughout history, mankind has constantly forgotten all that God has done for them. We do not want to forget His sacrifice, His death, and His most incredible resurrection! This is also a time for self-reflection on our life, our relationship with others and Jesus.
• We also provide for our members a time for reflection to consider the blessings of God and an opportunity to give monetarily. Guests are not expected to participate, but are welcomed should they choose to do so (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8 & 9).We give because He gave everything. Everything we own is a blessing from God. We are just temporary stewards of these material possessions. We give because we are blessed!
