The church of Christ dates back to the days of the New Testament (Romans 16:16). It was founded by Christ on the Day of Pentecost, A.D. 33 (Acts 2), just after His ascension back to heaven. In the years following, it rapidly grew in Jerusalem, then Judea, Samaria, and finally the whole Roman Empire (Acts 1:8; Colossians 1:23). In the first century, churches of Christ were localized groups of Christians who assembled together to worship God the way they were directed.  They were non-denominational with no earthly headquarters.  Each congregation operated independently, though they would cooperate together in matters of benevolence. The churches of Christ faithful to God do Bible things in Bible ways, speaking where the Bible speaks and being silent when the Bible is silent.  The congregation seeks in matters of faith unity, in matters of opinion, liberty; and in all things love. Jesus wanted his followers to be unified in His word (John 17:21; Ephesians 4:3-6).

The church of Christ is noted for its emphasis on New Testament Christianity and for its desire to unite Christians into the one body of Jesus Christ with Him as our head (1 Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 5:23). We believe the New Testament is the only rule for faith and practice in religious matters (2 Timothy 3:17; I Peter 4:11) and that it must authorize everything in Christian worship (Colossians 3:17; Revelation 22:18–19). Thus, we strive to strictly follow the New Testament pattern of worship. The church revealed in the New Testament met on the first day of every week (Acts 20:7) to remember Jesus’ sacrifice, His resurrection, His burial, to worship God, and to encourage one another through song, prayer, and admonition. In their worship, they followed the teachings of Jesus. These teachings were passed on by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the apostles (Acts 2:42) and were continued by the first century Christians, just as we follow them today. These acts of worship are simple and God-given. We strive, on each and every first day of the week, to be followers of Christ by obeying His simple commands for how He wants to be worshipped. Thus, we seek to follow only the Biblical example of worship. We want to worship the way God wants. Our doors are always open, and we invite anyone to join us. We sincerely want our community to worship with us in the very simple way put forth in the New Testament.
